Bringing Dogs to Camp Is Better Than Leaving them Home: Here’s Why
Have you ever wondered what Fido is up to all that time while you’re away at work each day? Perhaps you’ve even purchased one of those fancy treat-dispensing cameras to check-in on him and give him a little virtual love throughout the day. While that’s all good and well, it still doesn’t make up for the fact that you’re not physically there to play and romp around. Don’t feel guilty though, you’re not alone!
What happens when a dog is left home alone?
Every dog is different, so while some might be perfectly fine left alone for a few hours, others may become upset or find themselves getting into things they’re not supposed to. (Like the garbage or your shoe collection — yikes!) Here are a few of the things that can happen to some dogs when left home alone.
Separation Anxiety & Depression
Dog is man’s best friend, so it makes sense that he’d be devastated to see you leave for hours on end with no explanation. You know you’re only going to work and will be home soon, but your dog doesn’t quite grasp that concept, no matter how often you do it. The result? A scared and shaken up pup that misses his mom and dad! Even pups who may not necessarily seem phased will still be eagerly awaiting your return. At Camp, our counselors are trained to keep dogs company all day long — and trust us, they love to do it, too!
Boredom & Mischief Ensue
Let’s face it, without you there to entertain Fido, he’s a lot more likely to gnaw apart a couch cushion, rummage through the garbage, or knock over your favorite piece of furniture (you know, the one with all the shiny glass fixtures on top). Can you blame him really? You left him alone. He was bored. What’s a bored dog to do?! Even if your pup is well-behaved while your away, he’ll still appreciate a buddy to keep him company and pass the time — be that a certified Camp counselor or a furry friend and fellow Camper.
Potentially Dangerous Conditions
He was bored, so he ripped apart the couch cushion, right? But did you think about what would happen if he happened to eat some of that stuffing? The same could be said for those chicken bones he fished out of the garbage or the shattered glass that now blankets the floor from that jostled piece of furniture. Not only will you come home to a mess, but you may also come home to a pretty sick or injured pup. If your pet is normally well-behaved, he may still mistake that power chord for a chew toy or dine on some leftovers from time-to-time that will make for a mean belly ache later on. With a professional staff on-deck, your can rest assured knowing that your pet will be well looked after and kept out of harm’s way.
So, what we’re really saying is… bring him on down to Camp! He’ll be showered with love and played with all day. Not to mention, our professional Camp counselors will be able to keep a watchful eye on him to ensure he doesn’t get into any mischief. We get to play with dogs all day, and pet parents get guilt-free peace of mind — it’s a win-win!
