Strategies for Success as a Pet Care Franchise

Did you know the pet care industry is projected to become a $96 billion industry by the year 2020? If that’s not something worth barking about, we don’t know what is!

As a franchise owner, you’re a valued member of the Camp Bow Wow Pack, with the opportunity to capitalize on the ever-growing pet care industry with a leader in the space. You’ll enjoy immediate brand recognition and loyalty from the moment you open your Camp’s doors, but that’s not all you’ll need to succeed. In fact, here are a few strategies we’ve found to be beneficial for our franchisees who want to become the top dog in doggy day care and boarding in their respective areas.

Keep it convenient and comfortable.

At the end of the day, you’re providing a service to pet parents — and a valuable one at that. More and more pet parents are considering their dogs as members of the family, which means they’re looking for a doggy day care that will treat their pups as such. There’s a lot of competition out there, but there’s no one that comes close to the comfort and convenience we offer — with our private doggy cabins and Camper Cams being just the tip of that iceberg.

Know your audience and connect with them.

According to Pet Business, Millennials are spending more money on their pets than any other generation before them. They also happen to make up 35% of the U.S. adult population and are the most active group on social media. In fact, a whopping 90% of millennials have social media accounts and 17% have created separate social media pages for their pets, too! The moral of this story? Millennials are on social media — and your Camp should be there, too!

Engage with the community in-person.

Social media is just the start! The community work that your Camp does and the relationships you form with its people and local charities can catapult you to the top of the food chain. Get involved in as many community events as possible, partner up with local shelters to host pet adoption events and more. The more the community sees you, the more they are likely to trust your business to take care of their beloved fur-baby.

Hire dog-loving rockstars only.

Above all, great customer service takes the cake when it comes to making or breaking a business. Not only should you hire wisely, but you should provide continued training and support for your employees as well. They need to know that they are valued first and foremost, in order for them to show your customers they’re valued as well.
